The Department of City Planning has published an excellent guide of recommendations and actions that art galleries can take to limit, if not prevent altogether, damage from flooding in West Chelsea and elsewhere. You can download it here and I strongly urge it’s liberal distribution. There are no easy answers to the problem of storm-surge protection, still, this booklet presents simple procedures that gallerists can employ to greatly minimize damage and costs.
